A individual accused with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who witnesses stated has consistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal learned communication data and information obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate phone message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I believe what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What then? Isn't that important for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I simply desire to know," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that by means of electronic messages, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with law enforcement who collated the information, informed the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to family friends of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, the father responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I won't give up and I will prove my claim."

The court heard the co-defendant struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in that winter.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted through communication app to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the period before the visit to that location, Leicestershire, in that winter.

The court heard communications between the two accused, in that autumn, planning attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We need to make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the appearance to their home, Mrs Spragg sent a message which said: "We are sat outside the McCanns' residence with our lights out like investigators. I desired to achieve this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
